THEY/THEM

The child of an author and an artist, I often feel that I had no other choice than to be an artist. I was raised in a household of storytelling and art. I always knew that I was built for the world of art. Theatre feels like the natural conclusion for someone growing up in those circumstances.

Lighting design is a medium that combines my favorite parts of painting and sculpture. With light, I use color and texture to transform the mood of a scene. Careful attention to highlights and shadow allow me to sculpt the form of a dancer on stage, or elevate the proportions of a piece of scenery. My art is an expression of where I see beauty in the world, and it is my goal to ensure that everyone is able to experience that beauty.

Accessibility in the world of art and theatre is a topic that lives near and dear to my heart. I create art with the hopes of fostering community and letting others know that they are not alone in this world. Working in theatre allows me the privilege of collaborating with my fellow artists to share stories that might otherwise go unheard. Together, we create worlds where everybody is welcome. When the lights dim, and the curtain rises, we know that everyone in the room is about to embark on a journey together. That moment of connection inspires me to utilize my art to uplift and support the work of my collaborators.

I have found myself a home in the theatre, and my dream as a creative is to open the doors of this home to anyone who needs it.
